Abri du Grand Col
Abri du Grand Col is an unstaffed, free-use mountain shelter in the Vanoise area near Arc 2000, used as an emergency stop on routes toward Mont Pourri and the Grand Col sector. It’s a small, very rustic shelter with room for about 8 people and simple sleeping provisions (mattresses and covers), intended for self-reliant hikers and mountaineers.
Plan on bringing everything you need for cooking and water: there’s no running water and no toilets or electricity. The shelter has a table and a stove setup, and water is expected to be handled from nearby snow/ice sources (glacier is close), with use on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservation/fee process.
