Abri du Sickertbach
Abri du Sickertbach is a free, unguarded mountain shelter in the Vosges, used by hikers as a simple backcountry stop. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations accepted.
Inside, you can find basic shelter infrastructure such as a fireplace/wood stove, tables, and a saw/firewood setup at recent visits. Overnight sleeping inside the structure is prohibited, so plan to sleep outside if you’re staying in the area.
Water can be limited at the shelter itself; there is a natural spring downhill from the refuge. Plan on bringing a filtration method, and treat the water route as short but real (a short walk to the spring).
Follow strict refuge etiquette: take all trash out with you and leave the shelter clean for the next visitors. If you want to confirm current conditions before going, the nearest town hall is the practical contact point.
