Abri forestier de Lumiu

Abri forestier de Lumiu is an unstaffed backcountry stone shelter on Corsica, set up for overnight stays by hikers and hunters. It has sleeping places for about 3 people on mattresses, with multiple rooms spread over two levels (including windows that don’t fully seal against drafts).

Inside, there are a table/benches and some basic kitchen utensils; there are a few mattresses in usable condition and some older bedding. A fireplace/wood-burning area exists, but it’s best not to rely on it—tending and condition can be poor—while taking care to keep the shelter clean, secure mattresses, and pack out your garbage.

Access is on foot via marked paths. One approach is from the forest track between Serriera and the Col de Verghjolu (Bocca a u Virghjolu): from the col, climb a few meters on the north side to reach a yellow-blazed trail that takes roughly 15–20 minutes to the shelter; the alternative approach is from the col de Caprunale via a ridge route (also with yellow blazes) passing ruined bergeries at Astenica.

Water is available from a source about 150 meters south of the shelter, reached by a cairned path. No GSM coverage is expected; reaching the forest track near the col area helps for any weak signal.
