Abri Oberer-Sattel
Abri Oberer-Sattel is a non-guarded backcountry shelter (about 1149 m) used for overnight stays in the Vosges. The structure includes a fireplace (chimney) and a door; a table is present, and there’s also an outdoor barbecue/grilling option by visitors.
Inside, there’s no provision of bedding, and people report no water on site; the closest water is coming from a spring/source down the hill (Rennenbach) while access to water may require a walk. The shelter is poorly insulated, so expect drafts and limited warming from the chimney in colder or windy conditions; visitors also note the presence of nearby wood and that tools/basics are not reliably available.
