Abri Sous le Col du Pertuis

Abri Sous le Col du Pertuis is a very basic, open-access emergency shelter in the Bornes-Aravis (1550m), just below the Col du Pertuis. It’s meant as a last-resort backup in bad weather or poor conditions rather than a place for a comfortable overnight stay. The shelter is extremely small (about enough space for 2 people), with no door, no insulation, and no built-in comfort for sleeping.

Expect a wood structure with sheet-metal panels and a packed-earth floor with embedded stones. There are no mattresses/coverings provided, and there are no latrines, stove, or chimney. There’s no water at the shelter itself, but a well-known managed source with multiple basins can be reached by walking under 10 minutes along the trail network toward the Grotte de la Diau / Passerelle des Molliets area.

Access is flexible: you can approach from the Passerelle des Molliets (near the Grotte de la Diau), from the chalet d’Ablon (via the direction of Croix du Bénitier and Col du Pertuis), from the chalet du Parmelan (Camille Dunant), or from the Blonnière. The abri is visible from the col edge, at the forest margin.
