Aokaparangi Hut

Aokaparangi Hut is a basic two-bunk backcountry hut operated by the Department of Conservation in Tararua Forest Park (Wellington/Kapiti region). It sits below Aokaparangi peak (1354m) within the Main Range hut network, and it’s intended for Main Range backcountry travel between nearby huts on the network.

The hut is free to use and runs on first come, first served (no bookings required). It has toilets and pit latrine disposal, mattresses provided, and only untreated water available—no fireplace is provided.
