Au dessus de Gaudissard
Au dessus de Gaudissard is a small, unstaffed mountain shelter (cabane non gardée) used as an overnight stop in the French Alps. Use is free and there’s no booking system tied to this hut—plan on arriving on a first-come, first-served basis for sleeping spots.
Expect basic shelter provisions: the hut is having a roof and table, with minimal comforts. Bring a sleeping bag and your own food/emergency kit. There’s a stove (with a flue/chimney in good shape), but no nearby 100% reliable water source; there’s no dedicated latrine. Access is by marked path to the Gaudissard meadow from Le Périer or the Pont du Gas, then from there two visible tracks lead up to the hut; an alternate approach starts from the ruined hamlet of Surres above Pinets.
