Baraque de Crobache
Baraque de Crobache (also known as Refuge de Crobache) is a free, unmanaged wilderness hut in the Vercors area of France, used for backcountry overnight stays on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s designed for a small group—around 12 people—and has basic fixed furnishings plus an interior wood stove.
The hut is reached from Col de Carri: a forest track brings you to the vicinity (including an alternative winter approach via Scialet Royer on a winter track route). Inside, you’ll find a wood stove (tied to an older chimney setup) and simple tables and benches; there’s no water close by, so plan to carry everything you need for the night. Access is possible year-round, including in winter by ski de fond or snowshoes around the hut approach.
