Baraque des Gardes

Baraque des Gardes is a free, non-staffed forestry shelter in the Jura area that you can use as a basic stop for shelter during wet weather. It’s an open but not renovated cabin: there’s an extra roof overhang in roughly good condition, it has a fireplace setup, and it was open but not outfitted as of May 2020; the entry is along the forest path crossing the Poligny forest between Le Fied and les Moidons.

Inside, plan to rely on what you bring: it’s not equipped with a stove, and there’s no mention of a stove/charging infrastructure. The shelter has a fireplace/chimney arrangement, but covers are not is usable bedding, and no sleeping places are specified. Elevation is around 590 m.
