Beebys Hut
Beebys Hut is a standard 6-bunk backcountry hut in the Nelson Lakes area, run by the Department of Conservation within Mount Richmond Forest Park. It’s reached on foot or by mountain bike, using the Beebys Track (from Korere-Tophouse Road) or the mountain bike track from Tophouse Road; there is no longer 4WD access to the hut.
The hut has sleeping capacity for 6 people and is set up with mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets with pit-latrine disposal. Drinking water is untreated, so plan to treat it before use.
Hut use is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required—but you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night. Fees run adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and children/infants (0–4) are free (adult/youth pricing updates from 1 July 2026). Alternatively, a Backcountry Hut Pass provides unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period.
