Belcher Hut
Belcher Hut is a red wooden shelter used for remote shelter and emergency-style accommodation in Mount Field National Park. It’s operated by Friends of Mount Field. The hut has a metal roof and is built as a simple backcountry hut structure.
For access into the Lake Belcher area, the Parks route to Lakes Belton and Belcher leaves from the Moorland Mosaic walk at Wombat Moor on the Lake Dobson Road and then follows a track that descends into sub-alpine forest and turns into creekside travel up the Humboldt River to the emergency shelter at Lake Belcher. The broader walk is challenging, with muddy sections and scrambling, and you’ll need solid footwear and to be self-reliant.
