Bindaree Hut

Bindaree Hut is a remote backcountry hut in the Victorian High Country in Alpine National Park. It’s managed as a free, first-come, first-served shelter rather than a bookable accommodation option, and it’s intended mainly for temporary/emergency use.

The hut is very small and basic, with a fireplace inside and a pit toilet on site. There’s an open grassy flat around the hut that works for pitching a tent, and you can collect water from the nearby Howqua River, but it must be treated before drinking.

Fire use is controlled: if you use the fireplace, keep the fire small and fully extinguish it before leaving. Dogs aren’t permitted in Alpine National Park.
