Ritchies Hut
Ritchies Hut is a historic bush retreat on the Howqua River in Victoria’s Alpine National Park, built as a fishing hut and used as a simple backcountry refuge. It’s rebuilt for day use or emergency refuge only, with basic shelter rather than residential-style facilities.
Use is free and it’s operated on a first-come, first-served basis—no bookings or reservations are taken. There’s no mobile phone reception in the area, and dogs are not allowed in this part of the park.
