Blue Range Hut

Blue Range Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Tararua Forest Park (Wairarapa region). It’s a standard four-bunk hut with first-come, first-served use—no bookings required—so the main way to secure a night is to have the required hut ticket/passage in the honesty box.

The hut includes mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets (pit latrine). Drinking water is available but untreated, so plan to treat or filter before use. Fees apply: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and children/infants (0–4) are free; hut tickets must be bought for each night of stay (or you can use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts over a 12-month period).
