Dundas Hut

Dundas Hut is a six-bunk backcountry hut in Tararua Forest Park, run by the Department of Conservation. Use is first come, first served, and you’ll need to buy a Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited stays at most Standard and Serviced huts over a 12-month period.

The hut has untreated drinking water and pit latrines. Fees are charged until 30 June 2026 (adult $10/night, youth aged 5–17 $5/night, and children/infants 0–4 free), and Dundas Hut can be accessed from the Putara Road end via Roaring Stag Hut and Cattle Ridge Hut.
