Bolton Lodge

Bolton Lodge is a Green Mountain Club backcountry rental cabin in the Bolton Valley area of Vermont, set in Mount Mansfield State Forest. It’s a primitive-style lodge used for overnights on cross-country ski and snowshoe trail networks, with access on foot or skis from the Bolton Valley area. The cabin sleeps up to 8 guests in unfurnished bunk beds and runs on a wood stove (no electricity or running water).

The interior setup is basic: bring your own bedding and plan to sleep warm like camping; the cabin is not insulated. A composting privy is provided, and firewood is supplied for the stove. On the recreation side, guests use the cabin as a base for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing, with the option of lift-service downhill skiing and mountain biking as part of their Bolton Valley plan.

Rentals run July 1 through March 31. Rates are $97 per night Friday through Sunday and $82 per night Monday through Thursday, with Green Mountain Club members receiving a 20% discount (member discount code used at checkout). Reservations are made in the official rental system (no waitlist), and check-in is after 1:00 p.m. with check-out by 12:00 p.m.
