Boulder Lake Hut

Boulder Lake Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 8-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (Golden Bay area). It’s a first-come, first-served hut; no bookings are required, but you do need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (or a Backcountry Hut Pass that covers most Standard/Serviced huts for a 12-month period).

Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). The hut provides sleeping equipment (mattresses) and has a fireplace and pit latrine toilets; there’s no drinking water supplied. DOC lists the route duration to the hut as about 5–7 days and describes the approach difficulty as expert.
