Cabane d Aygue Rouye

Cabane d Aygue Rouye is an unstaffed stone shelter in the French Pyrenees, used as a first-come, first-served backcountry refuge. It’s split so that part of the hut is reserved for a local shepherd, while the other side is available to hikers.

For sleeping, expect a slanted wooden sleeping platform (bas-flanc) under a porch/table area. The hut is small: it has capacity for 3 people in summer and 3 in winter, and it provides water (though the water source may not be immediately obvious when you arrive). Bring your own sleeping bag/mat and food since there’s no booking or on-site staff.
