Cabane d'Ayzi

Cabane d'Ayzi is an unmanaged backcountry hut at 1213 m, used as a free-access stop in the Massif du Pibeste-Aoulhet Nature Reserve. It is a small shelter placed shortly before reaching the Pibeste area, intended for basic overnight use rather than comfort facilities.

Sleeping is extremely limited: the hut provides 3 sleeping places (on a wooden mezzanine). It has a fireplace with wood available, but there are no mattresses and no running water, so plan to carry what you need and be self-sufficient.

Because it is not guarded, use is on a strict first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. It is generally reachable from May to November, depending on snow conditions; if you arrive and it’s full, prepare a backup plan (camping nearby or hiking back down).
