Cabane de Carrette
Cabane de Carrette is a small, one-level mountain cabin used as a backcountry emergency shelter in the Vercors Regional Natural Park area. It is unstaffed and meant for self-reliant overnights, with a simple setup including a fireplace and basic wooden sleeping space; it sleeps up to 6 people.
Use is free and there’s no advance booking—plan on being first-come first-served when demand is high. The cabin has no drinking water provided (no running water), so carry what you need and rely on nearby sources if you find them; there is no mattresses and no toilets on site. A gabled roof and single internal level make it a straightforward shelter to manage during storms, but bring what you need for warmth and bedding.
