Alpine hut

Cabane de Conques is an unstaffed backcountry hut in the French Pyrenees, used for overnight stops on open mountain-hut style access rather than staffed refuge operations. It sits at about 1,630 m near the Pic de Viscos and Luz-Ardiden area.

Sleeping is limited: typically 3–6 places depending on the season, with mattresses provided. Use is free and it’s open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis—no advance booking is used—so arrive prepared for the hut to be full.

Inside, expect a small table and basic seating (chairs), and it commonly has a fireplace plus a source of water and wood. Bring your own food and a sleeping system appropriate for mattress sleeping, and plan to be self-sufficient for supplies beyond what’s left in the hut.
