Cabane de Cumina

Cabane de Cumina is an unguided, free-to-use backcountry refuge in the Beaumont massif, managed in partnership with Tous à Poêle and the municipality of Saint-Michel-en-Beaumont. It functions as a small, “cabanes libres” style stop: no reservation and no check-in is needed—use follows first-come, first-served. Inside, the hut accommodates up to 5 people (1 sleeping spot on the ground level banquette and 4 on the mezzanine). A wood stove provides heat, and you’ll find a table and benches plus a rainwater recovery reserve; there’s also a dry latrine nearby. Bring your own sleeping gear (mattress and sleeping bag/liner), since the hut is not set up to provide bedding. There’s no drinking water provided nearby, and any water in the hut is for internal use as stored rainwater (non-potable). The usual approach starts at Col de Parquetout, then follows access roads/tracks for about 200 m before switching to a path that reaches the hut area.
