Cabane de Faudon

Cabane de Faudon is an unstaffed mountain shelter (cabane non gardée) in the Ecrins/Champsaur area near Ancelle. Use is free and it’s a first-come, first-served stop for backcountry overnights rather than a bookable refuge.

Inside, it provides space for about 4 people with sleeping gear (mattresses and blankets) and has a table, benches, and a wood stove/poêle. Follow strict “leave no trace” practice: keep the shelter clean, take your trash with you, and make sure the stove is safely extinguished before you go. Access is from the Col de Moissière (GR50 is commonly used), and the hut is reached from Ancelle by hiking up toward the area around Col de Moissière.
