Cabane de La Grande Estibère

Cabane de La Grande Estibère is a non-reservable backcountry shelter in the French Pyrenees, used as a shepherd’s hut and as an unstaffed emergency stop (cabane non gardée). It sits at about 1,923 m and is built for simple, on-your-own use rather than serviced refuge stays.

Expect a basic refuge setup focused on weather shelter; bring your own sleeping and cooking gear. There’s no booking system for advance reservation, and the hut may be temporarily closed or occupied by herders depending on season.
