Cabane de la Selle

Cabane de la Selle is a private, unmanned-style backcountry hut used in the Matheysine area of the Alps. It sits in Parc national des Écrins (core area) and is primarily intended for short stays when the hut is not reserved for the ONF staff or the shepherd running the nearby alpine grazing in summer.

When open, it is having places for sleeping on mattresses (8 total), a wood stove, and access to a nearby source; there are no latrines. Expect limited kitchen gear—plan to bring what you need for meals and for hygiene, and keep waste management strict while staying inside the park regulations.

Access is generally approached on foot via established routes from the Confolens area (from the cascade parking, about a 3-hour hike) or via the Brèche du Pèrier route. In August, usage may be restricted because the hut is occupied by the berger renting the alpage, so treat it as unreliable for planned overnight use in that period.
