Cabane de l'Aguila

Cabane de l'Aguila is an unstaffed backcountry shelter at 1,910 m in the French Pyrenees. It’s designed for short stays in pastoral terrain and is set up for sleeping on platforms, with a total sleeping capacity of 4 people.

The hut has a fireplace (bring suitable firewood if you plan to burn a fire). There is no stove, and there are no latrines. Water is available from a nearby torrent or a source at the oratory; in practice this is the key planning point for the day you reach the shelter.

Access is by foot from the Héas area: climb from Héas toward Troumouse, then take the marked turn before the toll area, continuing via the Hourquette de Héas and staying on the left side of the main stream. The ascent from Héas is about 1 hour, and the hut is reached just after the route crosses the ruisseau on a small footbridge on the Pla at about 1,881 m.

Use is free and it’s not a managed facility—plan for a basic arrival: the surroundings have little to no wood, there’s space to camp nearby on flat ground, and the shelter can be used when shepherding needs allow (locals may also use it).
