Cabane de l'Alp

Cabane de l'Alp is a very basic backcountry shelter in the Écrins area at 2392 m. It’s an unmanaged, non-reservable hut-style stop used for overnight stays while you’re working on nearby high routes (notably access toward Tête de Vautisse).

Inside, it’s kept spartan: no running water, electricity, or heating. Plan to bring a sleeping system yourself (and expect no bedding provided), and be ready for cold nights.

Access is via forest and pastoral tracks from the Réotier area, following the road toward Mikéou and then continuing toward the hut area (the approach can involve a longer forest/pastoral drive followed by hiking). The hut is free for first-come, first-served use (no booking system).

There’s no immediate water at the hut. A water source is reached by hiking further up-trail toward Tête de Vautisse (plan extra time and carry accordingly). In the Écrins National Park, camping and fires are restricted—follow current local rules and fire bans for your stay.

To keep the hut usable for the next group, secure the door with the rope when you leave, keeping wildlife and weather out.
