Alpine hut

Cabane de l'Embernard (2116 m) is a very small, unstaffed mountain shelter used as an emergency stop. It is a simple stone cabin with sleeping for 2 people on stacked beds but without mattresses, and it has no provided blankets, heating, stove, or chimney.

There is no nearby drinking water immediately at the hut; if you need water you generally must plan for rills in the area rather than expect a tap right at the shelter. Expect no latrines and no forest right next to the cabin. The hut sits inside Parc national des Écrins (core area), and it’s is being on the former GR alignment; access can involve leaving the GR for the final, less-maintained section.
