Cabane de l'Essaure

Cabane de l'Essaure (elev. 1,653 m) is a small, unstaffed backcountry hut in the Vercors area, used for overnight stays on a free, first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Sleep capacity is 6, and the hut includes a wood-burning stove, a table, and wooden sleeping platforms (bas-flancs).

Bring your own supplies and plan for self-sufficiency: there’s no drinking water provided, no toilet facilities, and no fireplace. Ongoing hut access and usable conditions depend on the season and local conditions; the stove has limited or no stored wood, and the hut is having a small footprint with basic internal provisions. Use of water sources nearby may require your own treatment and planning.
