Cabane de Maucapera

Cabane de Maucapera is an unmanaged backcountry stone hut in the French Pyrenees, set just before Lac de Maucapéra. Use is for basic shelter and overnighting; sleeping is tight and it’s set up for small parties (about 2 people).

Expect minimal built-in comfort: there’s an open fireplace that’s filled with stones, and a small amount of wood-handling equipment, but wood is not close by. Recent visit notes describe it as usable but not especially clean, with a couple of foam mattresses available and a fast way to reach water by following the track in front of the hut for a few minutes (otherwise the lake is farther up).
