Cabane de Pouey-Aspé
Cabane de Pouey-Aspé is an unstaffed, open-access shepherd’s hut in the French Pyrenees, used as a basic backcountry shelter and also for emergency stopovers. It sits at 1,708 m and is not reservable; expect first-come, first-served use rather than a booking system.
Inside, it’s very basic: there’s typically a table, chairs, and a fireplace, with room for about two people (two bunk beds in winter use). Bring your own supplies, including whatever you’ll need for a night—there may be no firewood nearby—and plan to pack out all your trash.
