Cabane de Pouey Caut
Cabane de Pouey Caut is an unstaffed mountain shelter at 1530 m in the Vallée de Lutour (French Pyrenees). The structure is an earthen-and-grass-covered tunnel abri with a chimney and a long wooden sleeping platform (bas-flanc) running along the inside; it’s designed for overnight use in an emergency/bivouac style setup.
Use is free and it can’t be booked—expect first-come, first-served sheltering rather than assigned beds. It has a fireplace (chimney) but no stove is provided; bring your own sleeping gear, and plan to be self-sufficient with what you need for the night. The location is commonly approached from Cauterets via the route along the Vallée de Lutour/Estom valley.
