Cabane de Rif-Meyol
Cabane de Rif-Meyol is a non-staffed pastoral shelter (cabane non gardée) in the Écrins National Park, used for sheltering during backcountry hikes. It sits at about 2,063 m and is occupied at times by a shepherd with cattle nearby.
Plan on bringing everything you need for the night: it has no sleeping places and no roof-to-floor cooking setup provided (no stove/oven or chimney are). Heating is limited to what the hut includes, and water comes from a source downhill that requires purification. If you want an overnight, know there is no reservation/booking system tied to this hut; it functions as an unmanaged bivouac-style option.
Common approach starts from the Cascade de Confolens area via Le Périer, following a route that climbs through forest and then open pastures to reach the hut.
