Cabane de Saunères

Cabane de Saunères is a free, unstaffed mountain shelter on the GR10 above Luchon, set at about 1,660 m. Use is first-come, first-served with no bookings, and it’s aimed at hikers passing through rather than an organized refuge stay.

Inside, expect very basic shelter: sleeping for up to 10 (with 3 places on mattresses in the reference data), a fireplace, and a chimney that works well. There’s also a water option reachable on foot in roughly 8 minutes to the east, plus a simple stove/gazinière setup; the interior is extremely rudimentary (including sleeping on the floor), so bring your own sleep system and be ready for limited conditions.
