Cabane des lacs Roberts
Cabane des lacs Roberts is a small, unguided backcountry shelter at about 2,000 m in the Belledonne area near Chamrousse. It sleeps around 4 people on fixed mattresses, and there’s room for more depending on crowding. Use is first-come, first-served—there’s no reservation system for the hut itself.
Inside, the setup is very basic: mattresses are provided, along with a table and benches. There’s no fireplace/wood stove, and it’s not set up with water nearby; plan on bringing what you need for a cold night (including a sleeping bag) and for cooking without a stove provided.
Access is generally from Chamrousse, commonly via the GR by the Recoin (about 1h30 at most), or from the Roche Béranger side via Lac Achard and the Col des Lessines; the hut is also about 1h30 from the refuge of La Pra by the GR. For bivouac rules around the lakes in this sector, use local guidance for permitted areas and night-time/bonfire restrictions.
