Cabane des Prés Clos

Cabane des Prés Clos is a small, unguided mountain bivouac hut used for overnight stops while hiking the Valjouffrey area in the Écrins. It’s a non-staffed shelter during the season, with a simple setup: a wood stove, a table with benches, and a sleeping area without mattresses or blankets.

Capacity is up to about 5 people inside (with no mattresses); a few covers may be on hand. There’s no latrine and no piped drinking water at the hut itself—water comes from a nearby captured source (abreuvoir) located within a short walk of the cabane. Expect to find firewood available nearby and plan to bring your own basic supplies beyond what’s stored in the hut.

The shelter is designed to be shared with grazing cattle during the summer period; during that time a herd may be around the hut, so keep doors secured to prevent animals from entering. Use is free, and there’s no reservation system—aim to arrive early and leave the hut clean for the next party.
