Cabane du Petit Pâtre

Cabane du Petit Pâtre is a very small mountain shelter at about 1,915 m, used as simple overnight shelter for hikers and as a shepherds’ stop during summer. Sleeping space is extremely limited (roughly 1–2 people) and the interior is very basic, with no mattresses and no electricity or running water.

The hut is not reservable and is used on a first-come, first-served basis. Expect a bivouac-style stop: bring your own sleeping gear; the shelter includes a bench, a folding table, and a clean sleeping area, and it is divided into two sections—one for local shepherds in summer and the other for public use.

Common route approaches for reaching it include routes from Cordon (often via the Peray parking area) and also from La Giettaz, following trails toward Tête Noire and the Plateau des Bénés.

If you’re planning a hike, note that the pedestrian route can include a dangerous crossing area at Les Seyttets due to a fenced sheep/patous presence, though passage is possible on the route.
