Cabane du Plaa de Prat

Cabane du Plaa de Prat is a small, unguarded mountain shelter in the French Pyrenees at 1,668 m, set just south of Lac de Plaa de Prat. It’s used year-round by hikers and is sometimes occupied by a shepherd during the summer season. The interior is tight: sleeping is arranged on overlapping slatted platforms that take up more than half the room, with a small corner fireplace and a very small bench.

It’s generally a no-frills stop—bring your sleeping gear (a floor mat is especially important) and plan to be self-sufficient for food. Use is straightforward: there’s no booking system and you rely on first-come, first-served occupancy. The hut has a fireplace but no stove; water is available close by (within about 100 m), and it’s located in the Parc national des Pyrénées core area.
