Cabane du pré de l'ours

Cabane du pré de l'ours is an unstaffed backcountry shelter in the Écrins area at about 1,760 m. The cabin is set up for emergency or transient use rather than a serviced hut: there’s a bench but no table, and the lower interior area is used for shepherd salt storage.

It’s free and open on a first-come, first-served basis (no booking system). Expect basic conditions: no mattresses or similar built-in bedding are provided, so plan on sleeping gear. The space is also used to store supplies for local shepherds, so bring what you need and leave the shelter as you find it.
