Cabane forestière des Descendues

Cabane forestière des Descendues is a free, unmanaged backcountry hut in the Belledonne area, managed under the responsibility of the association of Vaulnaveys trail routes. It’s a small wooden shed with a sleeping loft limited to about 4 people on a wood platform; the site indicates an overall capacity of 5.

Plan for very basic conditions: there’s a table, chairs, a bench, and a wood stove present but it isn’t operational (the stove pipe is missing / it’s neutralized), and fire isn’t permitted inside. There’s no running water or electricity, and no latrines; expect no cutlery for wood prep and no bedding provided.

Access is on foot only, typically via the Circuit des 5 Cabanes starting from Les Seiglières in Vaulnaveys-le-Haut. Use is on a strict first-come, first-served basis—no reservations or official booking—so come ready with your own sleeping system and water plan.
