Cadot

Cadot is a small rustic wilderness hut operated through the Traversée de Charlevoix hut network in Quebec, on the lakeside of Lac-à-l’Écluse in front of the Cadot trail. It sleeps up to 6 people and is fitted for self-catered stays using a slow-combustion wood stove and a 2-burner propane cooktop.

Access is seasonal: in summer you can reach the cabin by car via the Zec road, with parking about 50 m from the hut; in winter, the road is closed to vehicles and the hut is reached after the first snows by about a 3.5 km ski or snowshoe trek from the Zec des Martres reception area. Booking is handled through the Traversée de Charlevoix reservation system, and the site notes a 2-night minimum with rates listed for summer in the $104.00–$130.00 per night range (taxes extra unless stated).

Plan to pick up keys and register at the operator office (135 rang St-François, KM 10.6 on route 381), not at the Zec. Outdoor fires are strictly prohibited, there is no running water in the cabin, and groups must bring dish towels, a scrubbing sponge, toilet paper, matches/fire starter or newspaper, and a sleeping bag; you must also treat nearby water (filter/disinfectant or boil for at least 10 minutes) and pack out all garbage. The hut is described as poorly insulated and can be difficult to keep warm in extremely cold, windy lake conditions (with no refunds for lack of insulation).
