Cecil Kings Hut

Cecil Kings Hut is a historic backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park, used by trampers on the Wangapeka Track at the junction of the Wangapeka with its South Branch—at the grassy clearing known as ‘The Forks’. It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and offers accommodation for trampers in the Nelson/Tasman region; bookings aren’t required (first come, first served) and the hut has 4 bunk beds.

Inside, there’s a simple stone fireplace and mattresses/berths are provided. Drinking water is not provided, but toilets are available with a pit latrine setup. Use is free, and the hut’s history is tied to the depression mining period on the Wangapeka Track.
