Chaffey Hut

Chaffey Hut is a small, basic backcountry hut in Cobb Valley within Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman). It’s run by the Department of Conservation and is a 3-bunk hut for short stays by people heading into the Cobb Valley area.

Use is free and no bookings are required—stay is first come, first served. The hut has sleeping gear (mattresses) and a fireplace, plus toilet facilities with pit latrine disposal. It was restored in 2012, and the access road into the Cobb valley (Cobb Dam Road) can require 4WD in winter because of ice and/or snow.
