Chalet de Pré-Berger
Chalet de Pré-Berger is a Club Alpin Suisse (Section de Genève) backcountry hut on the Salève above Monnetier, near the top of the teleférique. The hut has two main accommodation spaces—25 people in the séjour room and 15 in the dormitories—and it runs on a self-managed, free-use model where visitors help keep it clean for the next group.
Use is year-round except for a closure from 15 January to 15 February. The hut is heated with wood, but it has non-potable water; bring water for drinking. For hygiene, you must bring a sleeping bag or sleeping-sheet (“sac de couchage” or “sac à viande”). It can be used year-round even though cell coverage is difficult and there’s no internet/Wi‑Fi; day-to-day rules emphasize neighbor quiet hours from 22h to 7h, and it’s not suited to parties with music all night.
