Chalet Refuge du Pré de Madame Carle
Chalet Refuge du Pré de Madame Carle is a high-mountain gîte refuge used as a base for both summer foot routes and spring skiing. It sits at the foot of Mont Pelvoux and the Écrins, above the hamlet of Ailefroide, in the area described as the meeting point of the glacier noir and glacier blanc, serving as an entry point to the Parc national des Écrins.
The refuge is open from 14 March to 30 September, at 1,874 m. Lodging includes rooms for 2, 4, or 6 people and dormitories for 2, 4, or 12 people. The restaurant and bar run daily from 11:30 to 21:00, with lunch served without reservation and evening meals handled by half-board or reservation via the listed contact numbers; room/dorm booking requests go through the refuge’s reservation email.
