Cobb Hut

Cobb Hut is a basic backcountry hut in Cobb Valley within Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman). Managed by the Department of Conservation, it provides simple bunk accommodation for up to 4 people, and it’s run on a first-come, first-served basis with no bookings required.

Use of the hut is free. The hut has mattresses and toilet facilities (pit latrine), but there’s no drinking water and no fireplace—plan to bring your own water and cooking heat source. Access to Cobb Valley is on the Cobb Dam Road, where 4WD is recommended in winter due to ice and/or snow.
