Courtaou d'Empièye

Courtaou d'Empièye is a backcountry shelter at about 1,450 m in the French Pyrenees near Campan. It’s not a staffed refuge—use is typically free and you rely on the shelter itself when you arrive. The shelter is basic, with a sleeping platform (bat-flanc) and a fireplace.

Plan to be self-sufficient: bring a sleeping bag/liner, food, and warm clothing. There’s usually a nearby water source in spring/summer, and you should pack out all trash and leave the shelter clean; extinguish any fire completely before leaving.
