Ferme de Fessole
Ferme de Fessole is an unmanned mountain hut at about 1,424 m in the Vercors. Use is free and there’s no reservation—overnight stays are handled on a first-come, first-served basis for hikers and cyclists using the GTV (Grandes Traversées du Vercors) routes.
The hut is basic and off-grid: bring your own sleeping gear plus food, and plan to pack out all waste. Heating is via a wood stove/poêle, and there’s water from a spring/fountain roughly 100 m downhill. Inside, there is chimney equipment and a small heated room; some accommodation areas can be locked off for safety, so expect only part of the building to be open at times.
