George Lyon Hut

George Lyon Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Nelson Lakes National Park. It has 16 bunk beds and was built in 1973 (formerly known as Ella Hut). Use is first come, first served, and you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (or a Backcountry Hut Pass) placed in the honesty box at the hut. Fees are listed for adults, youth, and children/infants, and rates change from 1 July 2026.
