Gîte de montagne de Tré-le-Saix

Gîte de montagne de Tré-le-Saix (also known as Chalet de Tré-le-Saix) is a small backcountry hut at 1530 m on the Tré-le-Saix alpine. It’s intended for hikers and other mountain users who want a base near the Chablais summits, with year-round use by reservation rather than permanent staffing.

The hut sleeps up to 15 people maximum and is not staffed on a continuous basis (“simple surveillance”). Heating is provided via a wood/coal stove (and you can cook with a gas hotplate). Bring a sleeping bag; only blankets are provided. Sanitation and water are available on-site (water within 100 m; latrines on site), and the hut has a gas cooking setup but no shower facilities.

Plan your approach around the access style: it’s not open continuously, so you must reserve and obtain keys in advance. Access/entry is tied to the approach routes used in summer and winter from the “La Hte Meille” (summer) and “Le Cerny” (winter) starting points, with ascent times given as about 45 minutes in summer and about 2 hours in winter from those departures.
